“There was once a dream that was Rome. You could only whisper it. Anything more than a whisper and it would vanish. It was so fragile.” This quote by Marcus Aurelius is from the movie Gladiator. It tells me that people strived for something. They wanted Rome to become a great nation. It also says that it was not easy and there were many people against it. I think that for something truly meaningful to take place, such as the rise of Rome, people must make sacrifices. It puts a common goal ahead of everyone else. If you truly believe in what Rome is capable of being than you must be willing to risk everything to achieve it. It makes sense in today’s world as well. If you have a goal that is not easy by any means, you will have to work extremely hard and sacrifice to achieve it.
